Dharma Teaching

Mindfulness Training

I took refuge when I was 14 with His Holiness the Dalai in 1998 and sat my first 10 day meditation retreat in 1999. Having been bit by the Dharma bug early in life, I’ve become completely convinced and absolutely confident that the Buddha’s teaching enable is to increasingly live a happy, content and meaningful life.I was invited into the first teacher training cohort with Against the Stream Meditation Society in 2008.  I started my career as an addiction counselor working with teens, adults, and their families heal the wounds of addiction over 20 years ago.

I’m particularly proud of Co-founding Refuge Recovery (I am fortunate to have started the very first Refuge Recovery meeting in the US and the UK) and am a founding member of Recovery Dharma. Two groundbreaking movements that bring together Buddhist wisdom and modern psychology to transform how communities understand and support recovery. You can find ‘my story’ as the Jordan chapter in the book Refuge Recovery.

I’m forever grateful for the guidance of Geshe Tsultsim Gyaltsen, Khen Rinpoche, and to the guidance and inspiration from the Thanissaro Bhikku, Ajahn Viradhammo, Ayya Thataloka, Venerable Walpola Piyananda…. member of the Dharma Teacher’s Sangha, founded by Thich Nhat Hanh.
